Dr. Michaela McCormick grew up in Delaware County with her three brothers and her parents (Dr. Joe McCormick had his first orthodontic practice 3 blocks from their home). After high school she went to Middlebury College in Vermont where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in both Biology and Psychology. After graduation she traveled the US and Canada, working and studying for three years, learning to speak French and gathering the science pre-requisites needed to apply to dental school. In 2005 she graduated from Temple Dental School, where she was on the Admissions Committee, Yearbook Committee and the Honor Board. She was on the Dean’s list 9 semesters for outstanding academic achievement and was chosen to receive the Bresler Award where one graduating senior who has a special gift in working with children is honored. Following graduation she worked with Dr. Robert Vanarsdall, a dual specialist in both Orthodontics and Periodontics. This singular year with Dr. Vanarsdall, a true maverick in the field of orthodontics authoring innumerable text books and research papers and speaking all over the world, gave her an invaluable depth of knowledge into difficult cases, surgical cases, periodontal issues and true orthopedic treatment. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania Orthodontic Residency in 2008 and went right into practice here in Chester County.

Dr. Michaela has owned McCormick Orthodontics since 2011. She wouldn’t want to work in any other place in the world! She LOVES children and finds enormous joy in chatting with them at each visit and watching them grow. She believes in a balance of preventative and proactive orthodontic approaches and believes every parent and patient deserves a thorough explanation of the issues at hand and the recommended treatment plan. At the exam, she has two distinct rules: #1: There are no sneak attacks; we get to chat about and examine any and all instruments and procedures. Rule #1 helps build the patient’s confidence and trust throughout treatment. Rule #2: Please ask questions! Dr. Michaela firmly believes the more she knows about each patient, the better she can guide treatment and motivate each patient. Without knowing each patient she is just treating the teeth...she wants to treat more holistically.

Dr. Michaela is married to a hockey loving French Canadian named Francois Gravel...who goes by Frank. They have two awesome kids, Henri and Beatrice. When Dr. Michaela has some free time she spends it with her kids, reading, wrestling and playing in the creek next to their house. She is a ravenous reader, loves food and can’t wait to camp and travel more as her kids get older.
